 Brand new films!

Batteries Not Included is a film that I put together early this year, after I made the film I did not know what to do with it because it is so much different than the Experimental art films that I am most known for doing. I decided to release this film on the internet and just give this one away  and I thought the best place to do this would be right here on the Internet Archives. Almost as long as I have been a filmmaker I have also been a film collector. I have for many years wanted to assemble a collection of vintage toy commercials into a flowing little feature length film, that feature all of these wonderful toys from 1950's 1960's and 1970's all of the major toy companies are represented in this film. Matel, Ideal, Hasbro, Marx, Aurora and many many others. So strap your self in and take a trip back through your childhood and you may discover a commercial for a toy that had as a kid and my hope is that it will spark pleasant memory's from those days.

Slow Boat to Thassos (1988- 2009)This is a film that I started to make in 1988 it is similar to a film that I made the previous year called Kodachrome Revisited. This film is made up of hundreds and Hundreds of 35mm slides that I projected onto rice paper and then re-photographed onto 16mm that was then hand processed . After I completed shooting this film it sat in my closet for many years waiting permission to use an obscure track by Industrial pioneers Cabaret Voltaire. It was not until the spring of 1994 that I received an envelope from them containing simply  the word YES scrawled onto a napkin. At this time I  was very busy with other projects and not really interested anymore in this film and I was moving on and exploring other ideas. I re discovered this film while going through my archives as I was putting my DVD collection together last fall.  So here we are 20 years later and I thought it was time to release this film. It is much different than my later films and although this was finished early this year it is exactly the way I intended it to be in 1988. At the time I shot this film I was heavily influenced by Dadaism and many of my films from those days in the early to mid eighties had those influences, using lots of found images and random things to create art. This film is not to be confused with the film Static which was made in 1982. This is a new film never screened until now. the title of this film is the same as the track that I used. seems to fit somewhat  being it took 20 years to finish, a slow boat to complete.
